Which standards do induo® poles meet?
induo® poles are manufactured individually to customer specifications and comply in particular with the requirements of the European standards EN 14229 and BS 1990. In addition, they can be produced in accordance with further internationally recognised standards such as ENA TS 43-88 and NF C 67-100.
Manufacturing takes place under CE-monitored production and in accordance with the quality and environmental management standards of our certifications pursuant to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
What is the maximum length a pole may be?
As standard, we produce round wood poles in lengths of 6 to 16 metres. Special lengths are also possible on request - in both creosote-impregnated and salt-impregnated versions.
Technically, impregnation of poles up to 26 metres in length is possible. The specific version depends on the customer specification, area of application, wood availability and the respective technical requirements.
Do you also deliver outside Europe?
Yes, we deliver our products worldwide to five continents - by truck, sea freight container or in combined logistics. Depending on the customer’s wishes, delivery is made either directly to the respective destination or alternatively to the desired seaport.
For many years we have been successfully realising international projects, including in Libya, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Our customers benefit from our experience in planning and implementing demanding transport and logistics solutions.
How long does order processing take?

What is the difference between creosote- and salt-impregnated poles?
Creosote-impregnated poles are designed for particularly demanding operating conditions. They offer very high resistance to extreme climatic and soil conditions and are therefore particularly suitable for energy infrastructure, overhead lines and regions with high exposure to moisture, heat, salt air or difficult soil conditions.
Salt-impregnated poles meet strict environmental requirements and are frequently used where ecological specifications, modern grid standards or special requirements for the area of application are paramount.

Is salt impregnation environmentally friendly?
Yes, absolutely. For the environmentally sound protection of our induo® round wood poles we rely on state-of-the-art technology and ecologically thoroughly tested products. As preservatives, with a 3 to 6 percent salt solution, we primarily use the chromate-, arsenic- and boron-free branded products Tanalith, Wolmanit CX 8 and Korasit KSM/KS2.
Safe deep protection using the pressure impregnation process
Wooden poles in outdoor areas are exposed to extreme weather and direct ground contact. We cover this special protection requirement seamlessly through the pressure impregnation process. The modern, fixing salts penetrate deep into the wood and offer safe, lasting protection against fungi, soft rot and insects - without harming the environment.

What are the logistics and delivery times like?

What is the difference between Tanalith®, Wolmanit®, Korasit® and Impralit®?
All four agents are chromium-free and certified. Tanalith® is best suited for ground contact, Wolmanit® is distinguished by its exceptional resistance to leaching, and Korasit® offers additional protection against termites, and Impralit® provides preventive protection against wood-destroying insects (incl. termites), rot fungi and soft rot.
Which standards do the salt-impregnated poles meet?
Our poles comply with EN 14229, DIN 48350, ENA TS 43-88 and BS 1990. The company holds ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certificates as well as CE EN 14229 certified pole production.
What is the minimum order quantity?
At induo® there is no minimum order quantity. We treat every project with the same precision - regardless of the order size. Every enquiry is analysed and assessed by us individually.

Creosote-impregnated wooden poles
Are creosote-impregnated wooden poles corrosion-resistant?
Yes. Because wood does not corrode, creosote-impregnated wooden poles are particularly suitable for locations with salty air, proximity to the coast or aggressive climatic conditions.
Do creosote-impregnated wooden poles conduct electricity?
Creosote-impregnated wooden poles have a very high electrical resistance and poor conductivity. Wood is by nature a good insulator, and creosote impregnation does not significantly alter this property either. Wooden poles therefore offer a technical advantage over conductive materials such as steel, particularly in the field of power and telecommunications lines.
What is the actual service life of a creosote pole in difficult soil?
Creosote-impregnated wooden poles are designed for particularly demanding soil and climatic conditions. Their actual service life depends on factors such as soil moisture, salt exposure, biological activity, type of wood, impregnation quality and regular inspection.
In practice, properly impregnated wooden poles frequently achieve service lives of 40 to 60 years, even in difficult soil conditions. Under favourable operating conditions and with appropriate maintenance, considerably longer service lives are also possible.
Which types of wood are creosote-impregnated at induo®?
For our induo® creosote-impregnated poles we use exclusively high-quality Nordic pine (Pinus sylvestris). Due to its natural structure, this type of wood is particularly well suited to the production of durable wooden poles.
A decisive advantage of Nordic pine is its pronounced sapwood zone. It enables deep, uniform and durable absorption of the wood preservative. As a result, the creosote impregnation can effectively penetrate the protection-relevant areas of the wood and ensure long-term protection against moisture, fungi, insects and biological decomposition.
By comparison, spruce wood, particularly after drying, can only be impregnated to a very limited extent and exclusively at the surface. For this reason, spruce poles are not approved in almost all international specifications for power and telecommunications lines.
The use of Nordic pine is therefore a central quality factor for us: it combines high mechanical strength, very good impregnability and lasting durability - ideal prerequisites for reliable wooden poles in the international energy and telecommunications sector.
Unimpregnated round wood poles
Why do you offer exclusively pine wood (Pinus Sylvestris) as a raw material basis?
For purely qualitative reasons. Pine wood from the cool regions of Europe is characterised by a wide and very uniform sapwood zone. This biological property surpasses that of spruce wood many times over, for example in its ability to deeply absorb preservatives and in saturation strength. Our unimpregnated pine poles guarantee an ideal basis for impregnation using the pressure impregnation process.
How long is the natural service life of wooden poles without chemical impregnation?
Raw wood exposed to aggressive weather influences has a limited durability. Studies for the Central European climate show that an unimpregnated trunk lasts 1 to 4 years directly in the ground, and approximately 2 to 5 years without direct ground contact. That is why our untreated poles are always intended for further professional protective treatment.
Can I order unimpregnated wood with a special diameter for palisade production?
Yes, we supply material with a complete range of sizes. Our raw, peeled poles are excellently suited to businesses that produce specialised protective solutions for agriculture and road construction.
Palisades
Which protection variants for palisades are recommended for infrastructure projects?
Depending on the specific soil conditions, we supply palisades after pressure impregnation (secured with chromium-free copper salts) as well as creosote palisades, which are intended for Great Britain and Ireland, among others.
Can I order a large batch of wood as a raw material basis for my impregnation plant?
Yes. Our flawlessly smooth, peeled wooden posts and untreated palisades form a perfect, standard-compliant raw material for further local chemical treatment.
Do you supply palisades in large quantities?
Yes, we specialise in the reliable provision of large quantities. Thanks to our own extensive stock, we guarantee you seamless delivery continuity and absolutely smooth logistics - delivered either free to your premises (DAP) or directly to the destination port of your choice.
LoPro® wood protection system
What is LoPro® used for?
LoPro® is used to protect the ground-air zone of wooden poles. This area is regarded as particularly critical, as moisture, oxygen and soil-borne microorganisms can act on the wood simultaneously here.
Under what conditions must rolls be stored on the construction site?
Storage conditions for LoPro® bandages
The rolls must be protected from direct sunlight, frost and moisture. Storage must be carried out standing (upright) at an ambient temperature above +5 °C. If these conditions are met, optimal suitability for installation is guaranteed for up to 12 months.
What does preservative reservoir mean?
Thanks to the LoPro® system, the wood preservation is better maintained in the particularly vulnerable area of the pole. This creates a preservative reservoir exactly where the pole is most heavily stressed by moisture and soil organisms.
Can I order poles with LoPro® wood protection bandages already installed?
Yes. We recommend ordering round wood poles with factory-preinstalled LoPro® bandages as initial-installation protection. Factory fitting saves valuable installation time on the construction site and guarantees an absolutely flawless application under optimal factory conditions.
Production process
Where does the wood used for our poles come from?
We use exclusively pine wood from sustainable forestry. The careful selection of growing regions in Central and Northern Europe ensures narrow annual rings and a pronounced sapwood zone. These natural wood properties are the decisive factor for optimal and long-lasting impregnation saturation.
For large orders, do I have to mill or drill the poles myself?
No, you do not have to. Our production is consistently designed for the “Plug & Play” format. We drill holes for fittings and screws, cut the pole tops to customer specifications and carry out all necessary millings directly at our works. You receive ready-to-install wooden poles that can be delivered directly and installed in the ground without further preparation.
Can I also order poles from you without impregnation?
Yes, this is easily possible. As an experienced palisade manufacturer and pole producer, we always keep debarked and white, peeled poles directly in stock. This is the ideal solution for external impregnation plants or for projects in which the impregnation is to be carried out flexibly and locally, directly at the installation site.
Logistics and global deliveries
When will I receive a quotation and prices for delivery to the specified address?
With our enquiry configurator you can choose a DAP delivery (to the construction site) or delivery to a specified port. The engineers at induo® immediately calculate the costs, taking into account the most favourable conditions and Incoterms.
Do you also deliver outside Europe?
Yes, absolutely. In addition to the European Union, our strategic core markets include in particular the British market as well as the Arab markets (North Africa and the Middle East). We have comprehensive expertise in international customs clearance and worldwide container transport, so that a smooth and legally secure delivery across all customs borders is guaranteed.
Can I buy goods from you if I have my own transport?
Of course. You can flexibly purchase our goods ex works and organise the entire logistics with your own means of transport. We adapt seamlessly to your existing supply chains and guarantee smooth provision and handling at our factory locations.
Impregnation technology
Why can poles made from pine (Pinus Sylvestris) be impregnated better than spruce poles?
Effective and durable pressure impregnation can take place exclusively in the sapwood layer of the tree. The Central and Northern European pine that we carefully select is naturally characterised by a particularly wide and uniform sapwood zone, which enables deep and complete absorption of the preservative.
Spruce wood, on the other hand, has a completely different cell structure. Among experts it is considered resistant to impregnation, as it physically cannot absorb the preservative deeply enough. This makes pine the qualitatively superior choice for long-term ground installation.
What is the difference between the full-cell process and the Rüping process?
The traditional full-cell process (also known as the Bethell process) first creates a vacuum, which completely draws the air out of the wood cells. As a result, the cells then fill completely with the preservative.
In the technologically leading Rüping process - a so-called empty-cell process - we begin by using controlled air overpressure to compress the air within the cells. Only afterwards is the creosote oil introduced. Once the pressure process is complete, the trapped air expands again and gently forces the excess oil out of the cell cavities.
The result: our wooden poles receive maximum deep protection within the cell walls, while the cavities remain free. As a result, the poles are optimally preserved, yet do not tend to bleed or drip during transport or storage.
How are impregnated poles safely disposed of at the end of their service life?
At the end of their life cycle - which spans several decades - all chemically treated wooden poles must be sent for proper thermal recovery (energy recovery).
This means that, in accordance with statutory environmental regulations, the poles are safely disposed of in approved industrial or biomass heating power plants with modern flue gas cleaning and used for clean electricity and heat generation.
